Aki Kalliatakis is the founder and Managing Partner of The Leadership LaunchPad, a consultancy he founded in 1989 focused on customer loyalty. His degree in psychology gave him the basis for understanding people issues at work, and – after holding HR and marketing positions in a number of companies – he now focuses exclusively on helping clients improve their capabilities, culture, infrastructure and architecture in customer management.
Together with many professional associates and licensees in SA, and other countries, The Leadership LaunchPad insists on customised strategies for customer loyalty at all levels. Aki is often invited to talk at local and international conferences and workshops for many global blue chip clients. (These include SAB-Miller, Mercedes Benz, KPMG, PG Glass, Avis, Nando’s, SPAR, ExecuJet, Alexander Forbes, Nedbank, Deloittes, Microsoft, Ranbaxy, Vodacom, Toyota, Liberty Life, Pick ‘n Pay, Standard Bank PPC, Coca Cola Shanduka Beverages, MTN, Nashua Mobile, Liberty Life, First National Bank, and Virgin Mobile.)
In addition, as a “closet academic,” Aki lectures on various MBA and Executive Development Programmes at Wits Business School, Henley Management College (part of the University of Reading in the UK,) and Duke University.
His energy and enthusiasm for customer management is obvious, and he is also a voracious reader and writer. With eight business books (including a business novel,) under his belt, and hundreds of articles in management journals like the Financial Mail and websites like BizCommunity, he also regularly appears on various South African television and radio programmes as a commentator.
Aki dispenses practical advice for delighting customers, and his humorous, entertaining style reflects his childhood dream of playing in a rock band – a dream which he has not completely abandoned. He is married with two young sons, and his hobbies include being in the African bush, astronomy and music.
