Les was born in the UK, has lived in Australia and New Zealand but spent her formative years in South Africa. After graduating from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, Les took up a career in newspapers, first as a sub-editor, arts editor and columnist and then a senior magazine editor. A career in magazines and radio led her to a 10 year career in investigative television. She is a former reporter and director on South Africa’s most influential investigative news programme, Carte Blanche; she has directed and scripted several educational videos for universities, a regular lecturer in executive short courses at Wits business school, Rhodes Business School and the GSB.
She is a former senior script-writer and final mix director on SABC3’s magazine show Top Billing, Top Travel, and Presenter Search;
She is also a copywriter for print advertising: clients include Touchline, One & Only, Hang Ten, One & Only Cape Town, Shimansky.
She is the former Bureau Chief of Cosmopolitan magazine, Editor of award-winning Sunday Life, quarterly magazine Icon and currently the editor of the award-winning luxury magazine Private Edition, Private Time and Private Departures, magazines distributed to top tier executives;
Les is a communications coach to a number of executives, a feature writer, columnist and author, MC and key note speaker
She is the director of a media and communications company Write Angles Editing: Media consultant/trainer/coach to several top companies including; Engen, Shell, Mastercard, NNR, La Motte, TWP Projects, Prudential, Sanlam, GSB, TFG etc.
She is currently the Head of Strategic Communications for Virgin Active SA and is a specialist in resolving crises for the company.
